UC Davis Nuts and Berries Conference to be held May 5th, 2022

The UC Davis Nuts and Berries Conference will be held May 5th, 2022 both in-person and live-streamed.  The theme of the conference is "Pathways to Oxidant defense, vascular health, and gut microbiome changes."

The event will be both in-person at the UC Davis Alumni Center and live-streamed worldwide 9 am – 4 pm (Pacific time). 

UCD Nutrition Department recruiting for Assistant Specialist in Cooperative Extension - Community Nutrition

The Department of Nutrition, internationally recognized as a premier center of excellence in research, teaching, and extension, is seeking applications for a Specialist in Cooperative Extension (CE) to join the faculty at the Assistant rank in the field of community nutrition. The mission of the Department of Nutrition is to develop and disseminate comprehensive basic and applied knowledge regarding nutritional biology and the translation to improving human health, and to implement and evaluate nutrition interventions and programs for their impact on individuals, society and policy.

Preventing Child Malnutrition and Promoting Healthy Development

A small sachet of a fortified food-based supplement added to young children’s daily diets in low- and middle-income countries has shown remarkable results in preventing child mortality and malnutrition, while also promoting healthy development. The new findings from researchers at the University of California, Davis, based on an analysis combining data from 14 trials, were published in a series of four papers in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.

UC Davis Clinical Nutrition Grad honored by California WIC Association

UC Davis Alumna, Liliana Prado-Nava RD, CLE, Site Manager at Merced County Community Action Agency Women Infants and Children (WIC) Nutrition program, leads local nutrition colleagues and works directly with clients as a Registered Dietitian (RD). She has an impressive personal story and is recognized for the positive impact that she is making to the field of maternal and child nutrition. The California WIC Association recently honored Liliana with the 2021 Phyllis Bramson Advocacy Award for her strong volunteer advocacy efforts and work within her community.
